Kasargod: Planting of saplings should not be for name sake - Punaroor

Kasargod, 16 June 2015: The planting of saplings should not be for name sake. The saplings planted besides the road gets laid whilst widening the road is not worth the cause, said state Kannada Sahitya Parishat former president and Towdugoli - Durgadevi and Ayyappa Mandir renovation Committee president and religious leader Harikrishna Punaroor.
Punaroor was speaking during the public distribution of saplings that was organized by Durgadevi temple and Ayyappa Mandir, Towdugoli, near here on Sunday June 14.
Of late the numbers of automobiles are increasing more than people. The carbon emissions from these automobiles are polluting the environment with people suffering from respiratory ailments. The human greed is causing havoc on nature, said Punaroor.
DK zilla panchayat vice president Satish Kumpala said that the agrarian based society was in tune with nature till a few decades ago. Meanwhile, now one got to live in concrete jungle without choice. The people in agrarian based society were toiling in the son and rain working in their fields throughout the day, while one cannot bear the sun for a few minutes. Its because of deforestation, said Satish.
Over 1,000 saplings were distributed to the farmers living in Naringana and Varkady villages.
Towdugoli temple renovation Committee honorary president Narayan Bhat Lada, vice president Devappa Shetty Chavadibail, honorary advisor Shankar Bhat Dosemane, Manjeshwar gram panchayat member Moosa Kunhi, Varkadi gram panchayat member Nicholar Monteiro and others were present.
Shivaprasad Towdugoli welcomed the gathering and proposed vote of thanks.
