Moodbidri: Soham Renewable Energy India Pvt Ltd observes World Environ Day

Moodbidri, 7 Jun 2015: Soham Renewable Energy India Private Limited (SREIPL) undertook its third year of Tree Planting successfully on World Environment Day at its 2 SHP projects here Friday June 5.

 

Tree saplings of fruits - mango and jackfruit, teakwood and rosewood saplings were planted in 2 project sites of Soham Group - Soham Mannapitlu Power Private Limited (SMPPL) and Soham Phalguni Renewable Energy Private Limited (SPREPL) on the occasion.

 

Soham Foundation is part of SREIPL which has 3 operational power plants; the fourth will be commissioned by the end of June month end and the fifth by 2016. Soham Foundation today touches the lives of over 10,870 school going children on a daily basis in rural Karnataka, through their various CSR programs ranging from Computer Education to School Transportation to Health Insurance to Building School infrastructure etc.

 

This Bangalore based firm has undertaken regular tree plantation drive for the past 3 years at its Project Sites in Jog, Moodbidri and Mahadevapura as part of World Environment Day. Last year, saplings were planted by the Group at their Mahadevapura Small Hydel Power Project wherein a dedicated tree zone was created to take care of these saplings and nurtured safely till it becomes fully grown trees. As a green energy company tree planting forms an integral part of Soham Company’s ethos.

 

 

Speaking on the occasion, Moodbidri Urban Development Authority chairman Suresh Kotian said, ‘I hail Soham Group’s effort in making tree planting a regular annual event, this way reminding us to be more conscious of the need to protect our environment . Today, as a symbolic gesture we are having tree planting ceremony here in the project site. This gesture signals a deeper commitment to environmental protection. At a macro level, trees are closely linked with climate change and maintenance of a crucial balance in nature. Hence, this task of environment protection is a universal responsibility of all of us.’
 
 
Lily Serrao, head teacher of Government. Higher Primary School, Iruvailu, here commented, ‘Today as I participate in Soham Group’s tree planting initiative I wish to speak on the importance of planting trees.  Although we can live without food for some days and water for some hours we cannot live without oxygen for a moment even. Trees make the oxygen and spread it in the air. We need to start bringing in green awareness from student level.’
