Udupi/M’Belle, 05 June 2015: The Belle Grama Panchayat election result that was declared on Friday, 5 June 2015 has thrown up a surprise as in the 18 member local body 9 members each supported by Congress and BJP have been successful. This has resulted in the division of the local body in the middle on the basis of the party line.

According to information provided by Devdas Hebbar, the list of the winning candidates  is as follows:

BJP supported winners: 1. Gururaj Bhat 2. Mrs. Mamatha Sashidhar Wagle 3.Nitin  4. Sudhakar Poojary  5. Rajendra Shetty  6. Diwakar Suvarna   7. Mrs. Lydia Fernandes   8. Mrs. Christine Mendonca  9. Mrs. Ranjani Hegde

Congress supported winners:  1. A.G. D’Souza   2. Mrs. Sujatha Suvarna   3. Harish Shetty  4. Mrs. Agnes Noronha   5. Mrs. Ratna    6. Shivaji Suvarna  7. Mrs. Helen D’Souza   8. Mrs. Shakunthala  9. Mrs. Pushpa Poojarthy

The big question will be who would succeed in forming the panchayat administration by electing the president and other office bearers of the local body. Being equal in numbers, both the parties would try their best to lure members from the rival group to support their respective candidates for the coveted post of president of the panchayat. This might lead to ’horse trading’ and other forms of allurement. Villagers from Belle and Kattingeri may have to keep their fingers crossed as they are not sure which party supported candidates would form the next administration of the Belle Grama Panchayat. Earlier, the local politicians were busy in canvasing for the election. Now, they will be busy in finding out ways to form the next village administration.

Doesn t matter money will rule Belle. Justice should be given to all equal We don t want to expect any divided rule. Who ever elected as president they are giving more priority their own area neglecting other area this should not be repeated.

what a state of Belle politics. Now for the sake of power, these people and parties will do everything possible to win the President post. Power changes all equations while the poor public waits for development to happen
