Bantwal: General elections to be held for gram panchayats across Taluk amidst tight security

Bantwal, 28 May 2015: The general elections for 57 gram panchayats in Bantwal taluk will be held on Friday May 29, while 804 candidates will contest. Three-hundred-fifteen polling booths are already set up in the taluk. At the backdrop of out of a total of 837 candidates, 33 were unanimously elected, the election will be held amongst 1,825 candidates.
A total of 1,398 staff, 57 election officers are assigned for general elections in the taluk who have left to their polling centers on Thursday May 28 evening.
Out of 315 polling centers, 55 are identified as sensitive and 58 are extremely-sensitive, the rest are normal.
The law enforcement agencies assigned strong police force to facilitate smooth and impartial voting.
