Udupi: Wilfred Gomes, physically challenged contesting in GP elections in Pilar

Udupi, 28 May 2015: Wilfred Gomes, who was born polio victim residing at Pilarukana, near Shirva, here is contesting as independent candidate from Pilar 2 constituency in the state-wide general elections for gram panchayats. He was found soliciting for votes in his 3-wheeler with the help of his friends.
Wilfred holds a B Com degree had contested in the past and lost at a margin of just 5 votes, but his zeal for social service has not lessened. He has the aspiration to inspire physically challenged like him and serve the poor and downtrodden. He has donated his blood several times. He serves as vice president of Karnataka state physically disabled Federation, Udupi district president, member of Indian Red Cross Society and many social welfare and voluntary organizations.
He has bagged several awards for his significant service to humanity. He has inclination to get state facilities for the people of his ward if he gets elected. Meanwhile, one has to wait and see what the voters’ verdict!
Wilfred is self employed, while his wife works in a private company in Manipal and the couple has one son.
