Udupi: Youth Red Cross wing of SMVITM, Bantakal observes World Red Cross Day

Udupi, 165 May 2015: The Youth Red Cross (YRC) wing of Sri Madwa Vadiraja Institute of Technology and Management (SMVITM), near here organized a programme as part of the World Red Cross Day observance at the institute premises on Saturday May 9.
Basrur Rajeev Shetty, chairman of Udupi district and the Karnataka State units of Red Cross India was the chief guest on the occasion.
Rajeev in his address briefed about the Red Cross Day and its significance. He also advised that important activities like first-aid training, disaster management etc could be taken up by the wing.
SMVITM principal Professor Dr Radhakrishna S Aithal, in his presidential address, appreciated the work carried out by NSS-YRC student volunteers in the past and said that he wanted to see more of such activities carried out by the units in the future too.
Professor Dr A Ganesha, Dean (academics) was present.
Nagaraja Rao, YRC programme officer welcomed the gathering. Madhusoodhan Rao proposed vote of thanks.
Devika Lakshmeesha, president of NSS-YRC presented the annual report of NSS-YRC for the academic year 2014-15. Amrurthesh introduced the chief guest. Manasa Shetty compered the programme.
