Mangaluru: Nurses Week inaugurated at Father Muller Med College Hospital

Mangaluru, 07 May 2015: The inaugural programme of the International Nurses Week was held at Asha Kiran ground floor of Father Muller Medical College Hospital, Kankanady here on Tuesday May 5 morning.
Sr Aileen Mathias, chief nursing officer, Father Muller Medical College Hospital welcomed the gathering. Sr Winnifred D’Souza, principal, Father Muller College of Nursing narrated the International Nurses Day Theme 2015 - Nurses: A force for change: care effective, cost effective.
Dr Prabhakar, interventional cardiologist, Father Muller Medical College Hospital was the chief guest inaugurated the programme by releasing the balloons (with nurses’ day theme) to the sky.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr Prabhakar laid emphasis on the key role the nurses’ play in the care effectiveness and cost effectiveness. He also lauded the contribution of the nurses from Father Muller Hospital at national and international level.
The poster for the Nurses Week events - 2015 was released by Dr Sanjeev Rai, chief of medical services, Father Muller Medical College Hospital.
Fr Richard Coelho, administrator, Father Muller Medical College Hospital, presided the programme and lighted the Nightingale Lamp.
Fr Richard in his presidential address has quoted nurses as angels from heaven, ready to take care of the sick and the suffering.
About 600 people including, nurses, student nurses and doctors witnessed the programme. It was a feast to the eye amidst colorful decorations.
