The athlete also complained about the poor quality synthetic track, which was not up to the mark. There was no proper maintenance. The track was not even cleaned after the stage program. He felt that if the athletes participate in such tracks, will not be able to qualify for any international events. Even the hot weather in Mangaluru at this time of the year made more difficulties for the athletes to aim high standards and to set new national records in athletics. Surely the organizers, the general public and the sports enthusiastic supporters would have been well prepared to organize and support whole heartedly for such an important national level mega sports event even better and that too in a rapidly developing city and internationally well-known place like Namma Kudla (Mangaluru)!

Congratulations to all the athletes who have participated in all the events and winners for their talents! But surprisingly one of the country s top athlete who participated in the recently held 19th Federation cup senior athletics Championship - 2015 in Mangaluru has categorically mentioned that he didn t get any support from his hometown (Mangaluru)! In fact when the National Games were organized in Kerala, he has received tremendous support from the public Where as in Mangaluru, the stadium was empty but it was highlighted in the media that a crowd of about 20,000 was expected for the inaugural function; it was not to be and he felt terribly sad hence he thought that Mangaloreans do not support athletes, they only support cricket. If there is a cricket match, people will rush to the stadium to watch it, they do not support any other sport the same way. If the athletes in India have to get support from the people, we need to stop playing cricket. Continued…
