Udupi: Newly-built presbytery - Holy Cross Sadana inaugurated at Pamboor parish

Udupi, 30 Apr 2015: The newly-built presbytery named Holy Cross Sadana was inaugurated at Holy Cross parish, Pamboor, near here on Thursday April 30.

 

Holy Cross parish, Pamboor which was established in 1968 will be completing 50 years during March 2018, so several projects have been planned to be executed before the golden jubilee. The construction of a new presbytery was one of the Jubilee projects which was started during June 2014 was inaugurated on Thursday morning.

 

The presbytery – Holy Cross Sadana was inaugurated by first Pamboor parish priest Fr Denis D’Souza and Seraphine Rego – mother of present parish priest Fr Paul Rego on Thursday morning.

 

Bishop Dr Gerald Isaac Lobo blessed the new presbytery and offered Thanksgiving Mass along with many clergies at Pamboor parish.

 

Bishop Dr Gerald Lobo presided the brief stage programme after the Thanksgiving Mass at the parish hall.

 

Shirva deanery vicar Fr Stany Tauro, state urban development minister Vinay Kumar Sorake, Shirva gram panchayat president Hasanabba Shaikh, Belle gram panchayat president Rajendra Shetty, ZP member Ida Gilbert D’Souza were the chief guests of the occasion.

 

 

The parish priest Fr Paul Rego, parish council vice president Prakash Noronha, secretary Asuntha D’Souza were present on the dais.

Fr Paul Rego welcomed the gathering. Mrs. Mabel Menezes gave a brief introduction about the former parish priests and they were felicitated for their service by the Bishop.

 

Fr Denis D’Souza, Fr Jerome Monteiro, Fr Herald Menezes, Fr Joseph Machado were felicitated on the same occasion.

 

Fr Denis D’Souza spoke on behalf of the felicitated priests and expressed his heartfelt gratitude to the parishioners for their support and their love and concern that was shown to him and to other former parish priests.

 

The minister Vinay Kumar Sorake assured his full support to the parish golden jubilee projects and wished success for the next upcoming projects.

 

Ida Gilbert D’Souza also conveyed her wishes on the occasion.

 

The people who worked for building the presbytery were felicitated. The chief architect Danny Pinto of Western Architects was felicitated followed by the workers. Fedrick Saldanha was also felicitated for supervising the work.

 

Bishop Dr Gerald Lobo conveyed his wishes to the parishioners and emphasized the importance of the presbytery and felicitated Fr Paul Rego for the work he has done in the parish under his leadership.

 

Asuntha D’Souza proposed the vote of thanks. Fr Stany Tauro led the prayers before lunch. The whole programme was compered by Vincent Alva.

 

The programme was concluded with lunch served to all the gathering.
