Mangaluru: City Airport Customs seize gold worth over Rs 50 lac from Dubai passenger

Mangaluru, 28 Apr 2015: The officers of customs at Mangalore International Airport (MIA) here on Monday April 27, seized gold in the form of 16 numbers of 10 tola gold bars, totally weighing 1865.650 grams with market value of over Rs 50 lac, brought by a passenger who arrived from Dubai.
The passenger had brought these gold rods by concealing them underneath the seat in the aircraft in which he had travelled. The passenger twenty-nine-year-old Mohammed Luqman Ahmed who arrived at MIA on Monday April 27 at about 09.30am by Jet Airways flight number 9W531 from Dubai, is a resident of Hyderabad, Andhra Pradesh.
The passenger has been arrested and produced before the chief judicial magistrate here for remand. Further investigation is under progress.
