Lions Club-Shirva and Qatar-Pamboorians jointly organise Medical Camp at Manasa

Moodubelle, 19 December 2010: A free medical camp was organised jointly by the Lions Club of Shirva-Manchakal and Pamboorians of Qatar on Sunday, 19th December 2010 from 11 am to 4 pm at Mansa Rehabilitation and Training Centre at Pamboor-Padubelle with the help of the Kasturba Medical College, Attavar, Mangalore. Six doctors conducted the camp  in general medicine, ENT,  orthopaedics, paediatrics, eye and surgery.

 

In a brief stage programme,Ln. Ronald Menezes, Vice President of the Lions Club of Shirva welcomed the guests and doctors and highlighted the importance of the medical camp. Pravin Noronha, representative of Pamboorians in Qatar said that the Pamboorians working in Qatar had come together during the month of June 2010 with an aim of rendering social service to the residents of Pamboor and this was their first venture towards achieving that aim in association with the Lions Club of Shirva and thanked the office bearers and members of the Lions Club of Shirva for their cooperation and also expressed gratitude towards the doctors and staff of KMC-Attavar. He presented mementos on behalf of the Pamborians of Qatar to the Vice President of the Parish Council of Pamboor Church and the Vice President of the Lions Club of Shirva. Ramanand Shettigar, Secretary of the Lions Club of Shirva proposed the vote of thanks.

 

 

The programme was attended by MJF Ln. Lawrence D’Souza, Zonal Chairman  of Zone-3, Sr. Vinny Gonsalves, Principal of Manasa, Mrs. Honora Pereira, President of the Catholic Sabha of Milagres Church, Mangalore  who coordinated with the KMC-Attavar, Mrs. Victoria Mascarenhas, member of the Catholic Sabha, Milagres and also staff member of KMC-Attavar, Natesh, Public Relations Officer of KMC-Attavar, Wilfred Pinto, representative of Pamboorians in Qatar and members of Lions Club of Shirva.

 

According Sr. Vinny Gonsalves around 80 physically challenged students, boys and girls, residing in the hostels of Manasa were examined by the doctors. Besides these students, other residents of Pamboor also took advantage of the free medical camp.
