Mangaluru: Mammoth crowd shows solidarity with ’Baby Nirbhaya’

Mangaluru, 22 Mar 2015: As the sun slowly set in the east, the number of people arrived here, on Saturday March 21, to show solidarity with the three-and-a-half-year-old girl of Mangalore One School who is said to have been the victim of sexual abuse by her school bus driver increased and about one-and-half-thousand people gathered even though it was a weekend.
The crowd included even the priests and nuns of Christian community along with people of all the religion mostly people from Muslim community.
Centre for Integrated Learning director Nandagopal who welcomed all to the silent march at Nehru maidan said that this rally is to change the mindset of the society. ‘I’m confident that this struggle will build an educated society with changed mindsets,’ said Nandagopal.
The crowd later marched towards DC’s office holding the lighted candles.
The activist of Childline Renny D’Souza urged the government to take stringent action on Mangalore One School as they have violated various norms to be followed by the school.
Child Right activist Manjula read the memorandum urging the necessary action against the school authorities.
