Mangaluru: Ramakrishna Mission carries out Swacch Mangaluru for 7th Consecutive Sunday

Mangaluru, 15 Mar 2015: Ramakrishna Mission carried out Swacch Mangaluru for Swacch Bharath - cleanliness drive on 7th consecutive Sunday on March 15 at Pandeshwar Railway Crossing here. 

 

About 120 students of Government First Grade College, Car Street and Narayana Guru College, devotees and well-wishers of Ramakrishna Ashram and other eminent persons took part in the cleanliness drive carried on for 3-hour on Sunday morning. 

 

Ramakrishna Mutt president Swami Jitakamanand and MLC Captain Ganesh Karnik flagged off 7th week’s drive at Pandeshwar here.

 

 

 

Assistant Commissioner of Police (Traffic) Uday Nayak was special invitee.

 

The volunteers cleaned the dumping yard near Pandeshwar Railway gate and leveled the ground using JCB. Barricades were also erected along the road near the Railway line for speedy and convenient traffic movement during peak hours. 

 

Swacch Bharath awareness pamphlets were distributed among the public in that area. 

 

This is a part of the 40 weeks Cleanliness Drive being organized by the Ramakrishna Mission and initiated on February 1. Under this the student volunteers assemble at the Ashram on Saturday evenings for an evening retreat, Swacch Manas where they are taught meditation, bhajans and inculcation of values of social responsibility.
