Beltangady, 15 Mar 2015: ‘When you dig the history books, one comes across the ruins of several temples. The sculpture, stupas and archs of ancient time were precious. Its not a easy task to renovate old building. It’s a noble deed to to renovate the oldest and most significant temple instead of building tens of temples, as per the old adage, make a gem than constructing tens,’ said state women and child welfare minister Umashree.
The minister Umashree was speaking after inaugurating silver jubilee celebrations of Dharmottana Trust®, that was held as part of Astabanda Brahmakalashotsav at Sri Kshetra Dharmasthala, here on Saturday March 14.
The temples are mushrooming all over making way for commercialization. The entire populace should come forward voluntarily in renovating the temple, instead of mere spectators who go to the temple only after rebuilding to worship. The state administration is collaborating with Dharmottana Trust in this regard, said minister Umashree.
Dakshina Kannada MP Nalin Kumar Kateel after releasing commemorating bulletin of Dharmottana Trust said, ‘As per Chanakya’s wise saying, instead of digging future in the past times, one should first get rid of the ignorance of present – at the present times of commercialization of temples, Sri Kshetra Dharmasthala Dharmadhikari Dr Veerendra Heggade has set an example by renovating old temples,’ said MP Nalin.
Dr Heggade in his presidential address said that the tablots and manuscripts on stones of ancient times convey unity of all religious and not based on any caste. The need of the hour is to create mass awareness in protecting such ancient artifacts. The government had to protect ancient forts and fortresses that are of historical significance, urged Dr Heggade.
Beltangady MLA Vasant Bangera, foremr state minister B N Bacche Gowda, advisory Committee member Dr Choodamani Nandagopal, Dr G Ashwatta Narayan and others were present.
Dharmottana Trust president D Surendra Kumar welcomed the gathering. Hariram Shetty delivered the introductory address. The secretary A V Shetty proposed vote of thanks.
