Karnataka minister U T Khader urges union minister to increase flights from Mangaluru Int’l Ai

Mangaluru, 22 Feb 2015: Karnataka health and family welfare minister U T Khader met union civil aviation minister Ashok Ganapati Raju at the national capital on Friday February 20, and briefed about the need to increase flights to Gulf countries at Mangaluru International Airport as the outbound traffic has been steadily on the rise in the recent past.
The minister U T Khader convinced the union minister Ashok Ganapati Raju on beginning direct flights to Riyad and Jeddah in Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and also to other Gulf countries.
U T Khader also urged minister Ashok Ganapati Raju to allow more private airlines to operate flights from Mangaluru International Airport and also expedite the expansion of runway.
The minister Ashok Ganapati Raju assured U T Khader to grant permission to private airlines if they are keen to operate more flights, besides the works on expansion of runway will be expedited if the state government hands over the possession of land.
