Udupi Diocesan Married-Couple’s Day Celebrated at Kallianpur

Udupi, 18 Feb 2015: Family Life Service Centre - JIVIT, Family Life Commission of the Udupi diocese organized diocesan level Married Couple Day at Mount Rosary Church, Santhekatte, Kallianpur near here on Tuesday February 17.
The day began with married couple procession towards the newly-constructed Mount Rosary Church with the melody brass Sunshine Band followed procession by the large number of priests with the Bishop.
The solemn High Mass concelebrated by Udupi bishop Dr Gerald Isaac Lobo along with Udupi deanery vicar Fr Fredrick Mascarenhas, Kundapur deanery vicar Fr Anil D’Souza, Udupi diocesan chancellor Fr Valerian Mendonca and other priests of the diocese.
Bishop Dr Lobo in his homily said that God has put the foundation for the family on wedding day. It is the work of the God to be proceeded. Jesus Christ has role model of marriage couple. Marriage couple should give respect equally one another. When she loves her husband which mean that she loves herself, like wise he loves his wife which mean that he loves himself. Meanwhile love is the foundation of marriage life. God didn’t promise us that love would be easy. There are going to be times when you are unhappy. There are going to be times when your spouse is unhappy. But, God says love is long suffering. Marriage which elders of ones’ put on practice to believe and offering nature.
During the Holy Mass, wedding vows were renewed and later bishop Dr Lobo prayed for about 360 couples who were present.
Family Welfare Commission head Fr Chetan Lobo read the announcement on concluding the Holy Mass. The parish choir was led by Fr Mahesh D’souza and Fr Philip Nery Aranha, parish priest of Mount Rosary parish.
The bishop Dr Lobo presided the brief stage programme at Mount Rosary Millennium Hall, here after the Holy Mass.
One of youngest married-couple and one of the oldest who completed golden jubilee of wedding anniversary cut the cake with enthusiasm.
The bishop Dr Lobo along with the clergy inaugurated the programme with lighting the candles in banana tree on the dais.
Udupi diocesan vicar general Monsignor Dr Baptist Menezes gave beautiful address which he focused on Fidelity of the wedding, Responsibility, Respect, honor and love. He gave certain examples of the successful wedding life. He said that he participating first time since 40 years of priesthood that such huge married couples gathering in the undivided Mangalore Diocese which would be appreciated.
Bishop launched the diocesan Family Life Commission website www.jivitudupi.in on the same occasion.
Fr Herald Periera of Small Christian Community (SCC) conducted the spot games for the couples.
Bishop also felicitated the resource persons during the programme.
Fellowship lunch was served to all the participants on the occasion.
Mount Rosary English School students rendered the prayer song. Fr Chetan Lobo welcomed the gathering. Udupi diocesan Family Welfare Commission deputy director Leslie Aroza compered the programme.
