Udupi: District Governor Ln.Suresh Prabhu visits Lions Club Moodubelle

Udupi/M’Belle, 17 Feb 2015: Lion K. Suresh Prabhu, pmjf, District Governor of Lions District 317 C along with his wife Mrs. Ln. Sapna Suresh, pmjf, paid an official visit to Lions Club Moodubelle on Tuesday, 17 February 2015. They were welcomed at the renovated Nellikatte Bus Stop at 5 pm by the President of the Lions Club, Moodubelle-Ln Elias Lobo, mjf along with Secretary Ln. Devdas Hebar,mjf, Treasurer Ln Rajendra Shetty and other members of the Lions Club, Moodubelle. Ln. K. Suresh Prabhu unveiled the information board at the renovated bus stop.

 

Thereafter, Ln. K. Suresh Prabhu was escorted by five bullet bikes to Ganapana Katte where the newly constructed house under the service programme of ‘Home for the Homeless’ was handed over to Mrs. Ganga Sapalthi  and her two sons. Mrs. Ganga Sapalthi welcomed Ln. Suresh Prabhu by offering him a rose. Thereafter, the lamp was lit by Ln. Suresh Prabhu, his wife Mrs. Sapna Prabhu and other dignitaries and family members.

 

The house was constructed with the help of the government grant availed by the Belle Grama Panchayat and the help from members of the Lions Club, Moodubelle and other generous donors. The construction work was supervised by contractor Vincent Fernandes who within a short period of 29 days completed the work with all amenities contributed by generous people. Vincent Fernandes was honoured by Ln. Suresh Prabhu with a shawl and memento. Ln. Suresh Prabhu appreciated the Service programme of the Lions Club of Moodubelle. Mrs. Ida Gibba D’Souza, member of the Zilla Panchayat, Mrs. Benny Quadros, PDO of Belle Grama Panchayat, Ln. Tallur Shivrama Shetty, mjf and other members of the Grama Panchayat were present.

 

The official programme at Lions Seva Bhavan  was held at 7.15 pm. Ln. Elias Lobo, President of the Lions Club, Moodubelle presided over the programme. Ln. Suresh Prabhu, Mrs. Sapna Suresh, Ln.George Samuel-District Cabinet Secretary, Ln. M.P. Mohan-Zone President, Ln. Wilfred D’Souza-Former District Governor and Ln. Devdas Hebbar were on the dais.

 

Following the initial formalities associated with Lions meetings, Ln. Elias Lobo welcomed the gathering. Ln. Devdas Hebbar presented the annual report of the activities of the Lions Club of Moodubelle. New members, Ln. Lawrence D’Almeida and Ln. Vincent D’Souza were presented certificates of membership and Lions Medals by the District Governor. Kum. Frenita Martis of St. Lawrence English Medium High School who was one of the 30 students selected in Peace Poster competition was also felicitated by the District Governor.

 

 Dr. Eugene DSouza formally introduced the District Governor.

 

In his address, District Governor Ln. Suresh Prabhu narrated the progress in the International Lions Movement. He emphasised on the need for service activities such as  Home for the Homeless, Sharing the Vision through Eye Camps leading to cataract operations and distribution of free spectacles, protection of environment, etc. He greatly appreciated the efforts of the Lions Club of Moodubelle along with the Belle Grama Panchayat and other generous donors in providing a well-built house to Mrs. Ganga Sapalthi under the programme of Home for the Homeless. He further said that her gratitude and happiness is like blessing of God which will always remain with all those who had helped her in getting a shelter.

 

As an appreciation of their dedicated service, Ln. Suresh Prabhu offered Lions Pins to President Ln. Elias Lobo, Secretary  Ln. Devdas Hebbar and Treasurer Ln. Rajendra Shetty.

 

Mrs. Ln. Sapna Suresh, Ln. Wilfred D’Souza, Ln. George Samuel and Ln. P.M. Mohan appreciated the good work that is being done by the Lions Club of Moodubelle.

 

Mrs. Avani Patel read the citation of appreciation to be presented to the District Governor which was handed over to him by Ln. Elias Lobo.

 

In appreciation of service rendered to the Lions Club of Moodubelle by the Chartered President Commodore Ln. Jerome Castelino, Ln. Suresh Prabhu presented him the  District Governor’s Banner.

 

Ln. Benedict Martis and Chandrakant Rao, proprietor of Annapoorna Complex, Naalkubeehi who had helped in the construction of the house for Mrs. Ganga Sapalthi were honoured by the District Governor.

 

Ln. Rajendra Shetty and Ln. Gerald Fernandes who were elected as the Directors of the CA Bank, Moodubelle were also felicitated by Ln. Suresh Prabhu by offering them flowers.

 

Ln. Devdas  Hebbar proposed the vote of thanks.

 

Ln. K. Suresh Prabhu, pmjf:

Ln. K. Suresh Prabhu, pmjf of Kota was elected to serve Lion District 317 C as District Governor for the year 2014-15. His parents, late K. Balakrishna Prabhu and Smt. Sarojini Prabhu hail from a respected family. After finishing his initial schooling at Kota, Ln. Suresh Prabhu graduated in Commerce from Bhandarkar’s College, Kundapura.

 

Ln. Suresh Prabhu is a dynamic businessman. He is partner of UFO Moviez India Ltd’s Southern Digital Group and also the Director of prestigious Parivar Credit Cooperative Society Udupi. He is gifted with all the typical trails of a successful entrepreneur with an overpowering will to achieve, positive attitude, foresight, resourcefulness, communication skills which are the qualities required for able leadership.

 

A member of the Lions Club of Parkala since 1996, Ln. Suresh Prabhu held many offices in the organization including Club President, District Coordinator Sight First, District Coordinator Eye Camp, District Coordinator Vocational Training, District Chairperson for Sports, District Chairperson for Sangama, Zone Chairman, Region Chairman. As LCIF Chairman he introduced 39 MJFs to the District and as District PRO he maintained powerful intimate network. He is a good planner and effective motivator.

 

In addition to his lion activities, Ln. Suresh Prabhu is active in numerous professional and community organizations. As an unique passion he travels throughout the country on motor bikes and he has travelled on the highest motorable road of the world reaching India-china border five times.

 

Ln. Suresh Prabhu and his wife Mrs. Sapna Suresh are the most dedicated couple towards social service. This couple has been awarded the Best Lion Couple of the Year twice and they are the first PMJF couple of Lion District 317 C. In recognition of his service to the Lions Movement, Ln. Suresh Prabhu has received many awards such as Outstanding Zone Chairman, Best District Chairman, Multiple Best District Chairman, Governor’s Supreme Excellence Award, Best Region Chairman, Platinum Award, Best Multiple District PRO, International President’s Appreciation Award, International President’s Leadership Medal and recently he was conferred with Lion’s Pride Award.

 

Widely travelled, Ln. Suresh Prabhu has visited USA, Italy, Malaysia, Thailand, Sri Lanka, South Africa, Egypt and Lebanon. He attended the Lions International Convention at Seattle-USA.

 

The couple is blessed with two daughters, Supriya and Suhana, both are studying and are also actively involved in Leo Movement.
