Bahrain: Young talents win hearts at Konkani Kutam annual competitions

Bahrain, 06 Feb 2015: Konkani Kutam Bahrain organized the annual Konkani singing and elocution competitions at Papillion Restaurant banquet hall, here on Friday January 30 evening. It has been organizing the competitions in order to promote Konkani among children of Konkans in Bahrain since the past 14 years.
The competition was themed on speak Konkani and save Konkani. Over 45 children between the age group of 4 years to 18 years participated in the completion that was held in 3 categories, from 4 years to 8 years, 8 years to 12 years and 12 years to 18 years.
Delisha Joana Fernandes won the first prize, Lanwil Joshua Pinto won the second prize and Niya Alma Vaz won the third prize in singing competition for the age group 4 years to 8 years.
Stephaney V Fernandes won the first prize, Lareena Quadros won the second prize and Rolwyn Martis won the third prizes in singing competition for the age group of 8 years to 12 years.
Melisa Martis won the first prize, Shreyal Vaz won the second prize and Clarina D’Costa won the third prize in the singing competition for the age group of 12 years to 18 years.
Arline Rodrigues won the first prize, Ansel Justine Fernandes won the second prize and Reuben Lobo won the third prize at the elocution competition for the age group of 4 years to 8 years.
Stephaney V Fernandes won the first prize, Sujal Vaz won the second prize and Rhea Castelino won the third prize at the elocution competition for the age group of 8 years to 12 years.
Melisa Martis won the first prize, Shreyal Vaz won the second prize and Alvia Treeza Mendonca won the third prize in the elocution competition for the age group of 12 years to 17 years.
The winners were given away prizes and trophies. Consolation prizes were given to all participants. The jurors for singing competition were Richard Pais, Swibert Mascarenhas and Menino Fernandes. The jurors for elocution competition were Philip D’Mello, Joseph Andrade and Max Sequeira.
Two comedy skits were presented by Stany D’Souza, Sujay Pinto, George Menezes, Avinash Fernandes and Anette Bennies.
A buffet dinner was provided by Papillion Restaurant to everyone present.

Konkani Kutam Bahrain has been putting its efforts to promote our mother tongue Konkani and keep it alive.This kind of competition would provide children/ parents some inspiration to talk Konkani at home. I salute Konkani Kutam Bahrain for its efforts. |
