Mangaluru: Mount Carmel Central School celebrates Republic Day at Pride & Patriotism

Mangaluru, 26 Jan 2015: The sixty-sixth Republic Day was celebrated at Mount Carmel Central School, Mary Hill, here at school grounds on Monday January 26. The students took pride in glorifying and celebrating the spirit of unity and brotherhood.
 
The day began on Monday at 8.20am with the hoisting of the national flag by the chief guest P Balasubramanya, chief manager (administration), State Bank of India, Mangaluru. It was followed by the National Anthem.
 
The students of 4 houses – juniors and seniors, marched in colorful house uniform rhythmically to the patriotic tunes played by the school band. The school echoed with patriotic fervor as the students of Class IV A, B and C danced to the tunes of patriotism, enacted skits, sang patriotic songs, and even wore tri-colored clothes to mark the occasion.

The students who won in the various cultural and literary competitions held during the year were felicitated by P Balasubramanyan and guest of honor K Ramachandra Naik, branch manager, SBI, Yeyyadyi, Mangalore.
 
Sarah DSouza, a student of Class X who won gold in 400 meters and silver in 800 meters at the National CBSE athletic meet held at Divine Child School, Mehsana, Gujarat was felicitated on the same occasion. 
 
Balasubramanya in his chief guest’s address highlighted the significance of the day, and made the children aware that the future of their country lies in their hands. Hence they need to study well now and inculcate good values in life which will help them to be good citizens of our country tomorrow. 
 
Fanny Maria welcomed the gathering, while Roshna Narayan, Faye Rodrigues, Reuben Vinod, Zidane Rego and Ayushi Singh compered the programme.

 

The lower primary students had their celebration of Republic Day on 24th January with a meaningful cultural programme by Class I A and B, where Mr. Umesh M.N., Sub Inspector of Kavoor Police Station presided over the programme.
