Abu Dhabi: Choice Cricketers Dubai lifts Champions Trophy 2015 at Emirates Palace Hotel Ground

Abu Dhabi, 17 Jan 2015:  In a most exciting and thrilling match between GMC and Choice Cricketers resulted in Choice Cricketers walked away with the Winner’s Trophy while GMC Dubai lifted the runners trophy at the Emirates Palace Hotel Cricket ground on 16th Friday 2015.

 

The Champions trophy organized by Eagles Cricketers Abu Dhabi was well participated by 12 teams from all over U.A.E.  It was held for the second time and the teams entry was restricted for Mangalorean and Goans konkani speaking community only.

 

The weather was perfect and the teams participated were

 

Pool A

Eagles Cricketers Abu Dhabi, Mangalore Hawks, Play Boys, Karavali Royals, NFC and GMC A

 

Pool B

Abu Dhabi Mangaloreans, Mangalore United, Mangalore Lions, Choice Cricketers, Eliminators and Dream Boyz.

 

 

The tournament was a six over match however, due time constraint it was held for 5 over at the later stage.  All the matches were in very cordial and friendly manner and rapport.

 

The Champions Trophy 2015 was well organized by Eagles Cricketers Abu Dhabi under the leadership of President Elias Fernandes, Andrew Noronha (CEO/Chairman) and Secretary Praveen Lasrado and well supported by all team members. The matches began at 8am and ended 5pm and unity and strength of the organizers were very much visible through-out the matches and appreciated by all the teams participated.

 

To add the glamour to the tournament, running commentary was given in all the coastal languages of Mangalore/Goan region namely Kannada by Prakash, Konkani by Richard, Anup in English and Beary, Sharon in English and Sandeep in Hindi which was enjoyed by all the audience as well as participants.

 

The final matches were refereed by well-known referees from U.A.E. Jobis Raphael and Rohan Lasrado and they did a wonderful job without any bias or favour.  

 

The winners and runners were presented with trophies and cash awards. There was also a few players were recognized for their outstanding contribution during the tournament and the following were awareded:

 

Man of the Match - Cleevan Mendonsa (Choice Cricketers)

Best Batsman        -  Cleevan Mendonsa (Choice Cricketers)

Man of the series  -  Cleevan Mendonsa (Choice Cricketers)

Best Bowler -             Rayan (G.M.C. Dubai)

The whole day Champions trophy was enjoyed by all friends and families with loads of fun and joy and a most memorable cricket tournament held recently.
