Customs officials seize 10 kg saffron at Mangaluru Airport
Mangaluru, 15 Jan 2015: A Kasargod bound passenger was detained by the officers of customs at Mangaluru International Airport on January 15 after he was found carrying Indian saffron.
The passenger is Mohammed Riyaz, a resident of Mogral Puttur and was possessing 424 packets of saffron, each weighing 25 gram worth Rs 12.72 lac.
He had arrived at the Airport from Dubai on Thursday by Air India express flight No. IX814.
Operations were conducted under the supervision of Assistant Commissioner of Customs N Udayashankaran. Further Investigation is under progress in the case under the guidance of Commissioner of Customs D Purushotham.
