Udupi, 02 Jan 2015: To welcome new year 2015 and to give thanks for the Lord, Holy Hour observed at Milagres Cathedral of Udupi Diocese from 7pm on Thursday, 31st December, 2014. During Holy Hour led by Rev Fr. Rollwin Aranha Asst. Parish Priest recapped year long celebrations held in Milagres Cathedral and gave thanks to the Lord. Exactly one hour of Adoration, the Solemn High Mass concelebrated by His Lordship Rev Dr. Gerald Isaac Lobo along with Very Rev Fr. Stany B. Lobo Rector of the Cathedral, Rev Fr. Rollwin Aranha, Rev Fr. Mahesh D’souza Principal of Milagres English Schools and Rev Fr. Norbert Furtado Vocational Director of Pilar Fathers.

 

During his long homily Fr. Rollwin Aranha characterized Mary the Mother of God and instances of Mary is the Mother of God. Mother Mary also mother of us. Mother Mary to us as a model of that new life in Christ that all of us wish for ourselves in the new Year.

 

Mary was a woman who valued the word of God, who treasured it and made time to meditate and ponder it. It is true that the holiness of Mary is attributed to the grace of God, but this should not make us forget that she needed to make an effort in order to cooperate with the grace of God. She pondered the word of God in order to discern what God was saying to her at every stage in her life as the handmaid of God.

 

 

At the end of the mass, Fr. Stany B. Lobo conveyed the best wishes of new year 2015 for all. Bishop gave prizes for diocese level winners of Elocution competitions conducted by Catholic Sabha Udupi Pradesh. During in his message Bishop said that before 10 years of existence of the diocese pastoral objects to be fulfilled. We have 48 parish families. Out of that around 154 families have no toilets, around 260 families adopted by the St Vincent De Paul Societies, 744 persons are disabled either handicapped, diocese supporting 70 students financially and many more.  Bishop conveyed the new year wishes  all the faithful of the diocese and parishioners in particular. He said “He what tells you that you do”.Mother Mary shall be role model for us.

 

After the thanksgiving mass, YCS members organized Housie Housie games and distributed fabulous prizes for winners. Large number of devotees of Milagres participated for the Holy Hour, Solemn mass as well as Housie game.
