Goan girls wins prize in All India Konkani Poetry writing competition

Mangaluru, 01 Jan 2015: Ashmi Dasharath Naik, 10th standard student of V D and S V Wagle High School, Mangeshi, Goa has won the first prize for her poem ’ti’ (she) in Charles and Theresa Rodrigues memorial All India Konkani poetry writing competition being organised by Kavita Trust. Shreelaxmi Shenoy, ninth grade student of S V T Girl’s Pre-University College, Karkal has won the second prize for her poem ’amma’ (mother).

Third prize has been shared by Divya Somanath Parsekar, 10th standard student of Mandre High School, Goa for her poem ’bebo’ (Frog) and Ashlin Cress Fernandes, 9th Standard student of St Agnes High School, Mangaluru for her poem ’Yo-re pavsa’ (come o rain). While the prize winner will get Rs 2000, second prize winner will receive Rs 1000. Third prize winners will receive Rs 750 each. All the winners will get mementos and certificates.
This is the eighth year in succession, Kavita Trust, Mangaluru has organised this competition. This year, in all 116 students took part in the competition. All the participants will be sent certificates. The prize distribution ceremony will be held during Kavita Fest 2015, to be held on January 11, 2015 at Chowlikere, Barkur, Udupi.
