Puttur, 30 Dec 2014: A would-be bride went missing on the day of her wedding from Kallige in Bilinele village of Kadaba in Puttur taluk. With this, the family that was brimming of happiness for the daughter of the house was stepping into a new phase of life on Sunday, December 28, wore a mourning look.
Dr Kripa, daughter of Nityananda Gowda from Kalioge, Bilinele, was to marry a groom from Panja at Lord Panchalingeshwara Temple in Panja on Sunday. The bride was seen enjoying her elaborate Mehendi ceremony held at her house on Saturday night.
However, on Sunday morning things turned upside down when the parents of the girl realised that she has left the house. When all the search failed, the family informed the bridegroom’s family and called off the wedding.
As per sources, Dr Kripa was in love with a Bengaluru-based doctor who was her colleague when she was working in Bengaluru. It is suspected that she has eloped with him.
While bride’s father has filed a missing complaint in Kadaba station, the family of the groom has filed a complaint against the bride’s parents of cheating them. The groom’s family has also demanded reimbursement of expenses incurred by them for wedding arrangement and have cited that the action of the bride has caused them shame apart from monetary losses.
