Udupi: Students of Don Bosco High School, Shirva turn chefs for a day

Udupi, 25 Dec 2014: At the prevailing situation of degradation of human values, the students’ fraternity has to be ambassadors of peace and harmony in the society, because the future India will be of educated citizens, said Don Bosco Youth Centre director Fr Simon Fernadnes.
Fr Simon was the chief guest speaking during the annual day celebration of Don Bosco English Medium High School, Shirva, near here on Wednesday December 23.
Shirva – Our Lady of Health parish priest Fr Stany Tauro in his presidential address said, ‘The schools are no safer now. It’s being disgraced by a few vested interests in a nation that has given birth to peace ambassadors – Buddha, Mahatma Gandhi, Swami Vivekanand… The parents of students, society and all educated people had to be alert in this regard,’ said Fr Tauro.
Udupi district tailors Association president and Rotary Club member William Machado hoisted the school flag on Wednesday morning and distributed the prizes to the winners of various competitions.
Thirty-seven students who passed SSLC with distinct were felicitated on the same occasion.
The School head teacher Gretta Noronha presented the annual report. Primal compered the programme. The School pupil leader Floy Saldanha proposed vote of thanks.
High School students turned chefs…..
The mouth-watering aroma of food, attractive display, pleasant and hearty welcome that one cannot expect in wedding receptions or in hotel management colleges. Instead it was displayed by the high school students in display of preparing food without fire…!
The general public got a chance to taste the varieties of salads, puddings, ice cream, pani puri, dishes made out of puffed-rice, etc that was prepared by the students of Don Bosco English Medium High School, Shirva, near here as part of school annual day. The students have displayed the food in an attractive manner that would even shame the degree students of hotel management colleges.
The head teacher Greta Noronha, teachers Sandhya, Irene, Veronica and Sr Benny were present.
