Udupi: Rotary Shankerapura celebrates Club Day & Christmas Celebration

Udupi, 19 Dec 2014: Rotary Club of Shankerpura celebrated Club Day and Christmas along with Inner Wheel Club, family members and friends at Rotary Centenary Bhavan, Shankerpura here on Thursday December 18.

 

The chief guest on this occasion was Fr Denis D’Sa, PRO, Udupi diocese and parish priest of St Antony’s church, Kuntalanagar, here.

 

The president of Rotary Club Shankerapura Jerome Rodrigues welcomed the gathering. The chief guest was greeted with garland of jasmine flowers by R V Prabhu and with bouquet of flowers by the president. Anil D’Sa introduced the chief guest to the audience.

 

M G Nagendra, assistant governor, Zone III, RI District 3180, U Nandan Kumar, Club Service director, Clifford D’Mello, Club secretary were present at the dais.

 

 

The programme started with song of Jingle Bell and much awaited Santa Claus entry through the main entrance along with the chief guest, Rotarians and their family and friends. The Santa entertained the gathering with his dance with kids and gave away lots of sweets.  Two special cakes were cut on this occasion one by the Chief Guest as Christmas celebration and one by Clifford D’Mello, secretary of the Club on the occasion of his birthday.

 

The Chief Guest Fr Denis D’Sa in his address said that Christmas is celebration of love among the members of all communities. We all are children of God and brothers and sisters of each other. Therefore, let us live in love and fellowship. He highlighted the contribution by the Rotarians to the needy and achievement in their professional and personal life.

 

Variety entertainment programme presented by Anil D’Sa and electrifying solo dance performance by kids Varsh daughter of Anil D’Sa and Liza daughter of Sunil D’Sa entertained the gathering. Many games were arranged for children and adults including Housie Housie and lucky person of the day.

 

Keeping the tradition of club, this year also, the menu was selected specially for this occasion. Fellowship was sponsored by Clifford D’Mello on the occasion of his birthdays. Sumptuous vegetarian and non-vegetarian food was sponsored by Daniel Ammanna and Ivan Pinto was served and was enjoyed by one and all.

 

The entire programme was compered by Naveen Amin, Community Service Director and Club Secretary Clifford D’Mello proposed vote of thanks.
