Theerthahalli case : Miscreants set ablaze grocery shop of Nanditha’s father

Theerthahalli, 12 Dec 2014: The family of Nanditha, a 14-year-old girl of Theerthahalli who died under mysterious circumstances is being burdened with problems.

 

A grocery shop owned by Krishnamurthy, the father of the Nanditha was set ablaze by miscreants in the wee hours of Friday, December 12 in Balebailu of Theerthahalli. The shop was partially burnt by the time the fire personnel arrived at the spot and doused the fire.

 

The Theerthahalli police who visited the spot stated that they would soon arrest the miscreants following the complaint filed by Krishnamurthy.

 

Nanditha’s father reportedly stated that the shop was burnt by Imraan and his friends who were accused in the death case of Nanditha. It is also said that Krishnamurthy’s mother and mother-in-law met with an accident on Friday morning in Theerthahalli.

 

A case against Imraan and his friends were filed by Krishnamurthy in Theerthahalli station accusing them of abducting, sexually abusing and murdering Nanditha. Meanwhile Irfaan had also filed a counter complaint against Krishnamurthy accusing him of assaulting him during a protest meet in Theerthahalli.

 

CID Report

On October 9, Crime Investigation Department (CID) had submitted an interim report to the state government stating that Nanditha committed suicide by consuming poisonous substance containing phosphorous, due to academic pressure. The CID sleuths who thoroughly investigated the case arrived at a conclusion that the girl was under pressure to cope with the English medium of education.

 

Background

Nanditha, a resident of Balebail near Theerthahalli, died on the evening of October 30 at the Kasturba Medical College in Manipal. Following her death, Krishnamurthy, the father of the girl, had lodged a complaint against three persons alleging abduction, molestation and murder. An FIR was registered at the Theerthahalli police station under Sections 366-A, 354-B, 302 of the IPC and Section 7 of the Pocso Act.
