Mangaluru: Teacher canes preschooler for not pronouncing names of vegetables

 

Mangaluru, 10 Dec 2014: In a shocking incident a five-year-old boy was severely injured after he was hit by his preschool teacher with a ruler.

 

The incident occurred in a preschool located at Attavar on Monday, December 8. The boy was beaten up by the teacher named Latha, simply because the kid failed to pronounce the names of some vegetables.

 

 

 

Latha is the wife of school principal Sukesh Uchil and she is also the co-ordinator of Oxford Kidzee Mangaluru. Following the incident, parents of the kid- Rahamath and Minhaz, residents of Kuthar registered a complaint with the Mangaluru South police.

 

The parents said that their son had gone to Minaz’s mother’s house on Monday and his grandmother noticed red marks on the legs. When asked, the kid revealed that he was hit by the teacher.

 

On Monday night the boy is said to have developed fever and also refused to go to school the next day.

 

When the parents met the Principal, he is said to have initially justified the act of the teacher, but soon resorted to denying the incident. The Principal had said that the incident had not taken place in the school and that there were eight CCTV cameras attached in the school which could be checked.

 

He also accused the parents of the kids of behaving rudely with the teacher concerned.

 

A case under IPC 324 has been registered by Mangaluru South Police.
