Mangalore: Wenlock Hospital to get more facilities for patients

Mangaluru, 10 Dec 2014: The proposal to buy state-of-the-art ambulances and 2 deep freezers to preserve dead bodies at district Wenlock Hospital, here during the meeting of Health core Committee on Wednesday December 10.
The meeting chaired by Deputy Commissioner A B Ibrahim approved for undertaking various works at the district Wenlock Hospital.
‘Three ambulances serving district Wenlock Hospital are outdated, besides the existing freezers can hold only 12 dead bodies. At the backdrop of more bodies are arriving at the hospital in the recent past for autopsy ordered by court from different taluks of Dakshina Kannada district, the bodies had to be preserved for 10 to 15 days; the need to buy new deep freezes have become more essential, said Wenlock Hospital medical superintendent Dr Rajeshwari Devi.
Dr Devi further said that new 800 mm x-ray machine that was bought @ Rs 47 lac has arrived to serve the patients. The dental department will introduce new treatment shortly. Twenty-four children are being treated for cross-feet, added Dr Devi.
DC Ibrahim instructed the department officers to improve on the facilities for the patients coming from far of places and also to complete the development works at the earliest.
ZP CEO Tulasi Maddineni, Lady Goschen Maternity Hospital medical superintendent Dr Shakuntala, district health officer Dr Ramakrishna and others were present.
