Manu Bahrain selected to confer Daiji Dubai Literary Award

Dubai, Dec 08, 2014: Daiji Dubai – Konkani Writers Forum organizer Ronnie Byndoor in a media release announced Konkani literature with the penname Manu Bahrain was selected to confer Daiji Dubai Literary Award – 2015.

 

Manu Bahrain was selected with a huge margin in a secret voting by the members of Daiji Dubai – Konkani Writers Forum during the meeting held at the residence of Dayan Mukamar here on December 4. Walter Nandalike led the voting process, while Stan Ageira briefed about the literary contributions of Manu Bahrain.

 

The sixty-eight-year-old Stany William Lobo is known to Konkani world with his penname Manu Bahrain. He was born in the family of the late David and Mary Lobo couple. He is married to Rose and they have 2 daughters and 1 son. He migrated to Bangaluru after his SSLC at St Aloysius High School, Mangaluru. He reached Bahrain in search of better opportunities and worked for many years till his retirement in 2011. He is now living in Mangaluru.

 

 

Manu has authored 8 thick-volumes of novels, 35 short novels, over 500 short stories, over 150 comedy articles, over 200 poems and articles on different issues in his distinct style.

 

He is the founder member of well known Konkani Kutam – Bahrain who has bagged several awards and among them Karnataka Konkani Sahitya Academy Award and the late Victor Rodrigues Memorial Literary Award are most significant.

 

He is simple and humble in nature shines due to his distinct literary contributions. The veteran litterateur Dolphy Cascia says, ‘Manu is expert in captivating the readers to nature, because of his keen interest in exploring the beauty of nature in his literary works.’ The renowned litterateur Dr Edward Nazareth says, ‘Manu’s huge volume of novel, ‘Aranyantlo Taalo,’ is the one amongst the treasure trove of Konkani literature. His short story, ‘Sodnam,’ that was published in Mumbai-based Konkani Weekly much appreciated by the readers.

 

The Award will be presented to Manu Bahrainduring the anniversary celebration of Daiji Dubai scheduled to be held in Mangaluru on January 25. The Award comprises Rs 75,000 cash, memento and public honor.
