Mangaluru: MCRT 190 hosts BMW - Navnit Motors Guiding Stars - 2014, 4WD Treasure Hunt

Mangaluru, Dec 08, 2014: Mangalore Coastal Round Table (MCRT) 190  organized BMW – Navnit Motors Guiding Stars – 2014, a four-wheel treasure hunt with the specially-abled was held here on Sunday December 7 morning.  It was sponsored by Mahesh PU College and Delta Faucet Company Private Limited.

 

Mangaluru south MLA J R Lobo flagged-off the event at the BMW showroom, Padil here on Sunday at 8.30am.

 

Speaking on the occasion, MLA Lobo congratulated the Mangalore Coastal Round Table 190 for their contribution in the field of free public education. He further said that MLA’s Development Fund of Rs 40 lac that was budgeted for 17 schools and invited the Round Table to assist both in finance and execution of projects that were of immediate value.

 

 

Rajappa Waradh, GM-in-charge, BMW Navnit Motors, Mangaluru conveyed his pleasure to associate with the event and also further affirmed BMW’s commitment to the cause of free public education. 

 

MCRT190 chairman Jairaj Shetty, welcomed the gathering with a note on the event and its success in its fifth year. He further described the impact and awareness that this event was having on the community.

 

Neil Rodrigues, press and publicity convener, MCRT190 made a presentation to the gathering about the total of Rs 17 lac worth of investment which was directed towards a government school that MCRT190 has adopted – The Government Higher Primary School, Mannagudda, Mangalore. He explained the infrastructure development such as science lab and the audio-visual room and also touched upon the upcoming projects like the computer lab creation at the school. He especially highlighted the offer of a sponsor - Mahesh PU College, Mangalore - to take free and voluntary English classes to the students of the same school. 

 

Reema Cardoza, an accomplished personality and an award winning champion of causes towards the specially-abled also gave some words of advice and encouragement to the participants from the special categories.

 

Winners of the event:

First Place: Anil Bansal with navigator (visually challenged) Dikshith

Runners Up: Naveen Cardoza with navigators (visually challenged) Rohan Nayak and Meghana

Second Runner’s Up: Lester D’Souza with navigator (visually challenged) Ameena.

 

The end point also had a lot of excitement with a voluntary band (employees from the Mangalore office of IT giant Infosys Ltd) playing melodies that many from the gathering including the visually challenged children chimed in. Every participating team was given a framed photograph of their flag-off memento for their participation.
