M’luru: Tulu Theater innovated to modern times - Heggade

Mangaluru, 06 Dec 2014: In the past, it was a herculean task to stage plays. During those days, the plays were effective media to bring across a social message and the audiences were moved in tears. As the time changed, the youth playwrights innovated on theater and successfully incorporated in Tulu plays, said Sri Kshetra Dharmastala Dharmadikari Veerendra Heggade.
Heggade was speaking during Tulu Nataka Parba that was staged on Kemtoor Doddanna Shetty stage at Sahyadri College campus, Adyar, here on Saturday December 6. It was organized as part of Vishwa Tuluvere Parba – 2014, in association with Karnataka Tulu Sahitya Academy to commemorate silver jubilee celebrations of Akhila Bharata Tulu Okkoota®.
The latest Tulu comedy plays indeed are successful in enthralling the audiences with comedy and laughter, added Heggade.
The Konkani playwright Catherine Rodrigues was felicitated on the same occasion.
Ramachandra Baikampady, Gangadhar Kidiyoor, Mahabala Shetty Adyar, Madhav Naik Adyar were present.
Purushottam Bhandary Adyar welcomed the gathering. Dayanand Kateel proposed vote of thanks. Nataka Parba Committee convener V G Pal compered the programme.
Kadri Navaneet Shetty, Jagannat Shetty Bala, Pradeep Alva Kadri, Vijayalaxmi B Shetty, Srilata Ullal, Jayalaxmi Hegde Adyar assisted in the programme.
Sumanasa Kodavoor – Udupi theater group presented Tulu play, Koti – Chennaya as part of entertainment on the occasion.
