Bantwal, 18 Nov 2014: At the joint aegis of St Andrew’s Higher Primary School, Sornad, near here Lions Club of Loretto – Agrar and Mangalore University MSW students, Children’s Day was celebrated at St Andrew’s Higher Primary School, Sornad, near here on Friday November 14.
Speaking on the occasion, the School correspondent Fr Elias D’Souza said that India’s first PM Jawaharlal Nehru involved in freedom struggle and played a key role for the integral development of nation during post Independence. He always loved the children and the practice has begun to celebrate Jawaharlal’s birth anniversary as Children’s Day, said Fr Elias.
Lions Club Loretto – Agrar president Clifford D’Souza, secretary Merlyn Martis, Lions Club zonal president Asha Fernandes, Loretto parish council vice president Richard Menezes, secretary Irene D’Souza, Bethani Social Welfare organization social worker Lata, school honorary teachers, MSW students were present.
The School designated head teacher Josephine Rodrigues welcomed the gathering. Chaitra proposed vote of thanks. Kripa compered the programme.
Several competitions for the students and cultural shows were held. The prizes were distributed to the winners.
The free books and stationery donated by Lions Club was distributed to the students.
The students collectively cleaned the school premises as part of Swachh Bharat campaign.
