Mangaluru: Karnataka Int’l Children’s Film Festival begins in DK

Mangaluru, Nov 14, 2014: The first Karnataka International Children’s Film Festival was inaugurated here on Friday November 14.
Dakshina Kannada (DK) district ADC Sadashiv Prabhu inaugurated the film festival that was jointly organized by Karnataka Film Academy, DK district administration, information and public relations department and public instructions department at New Chitra Talkies, here on Friday morning.
Speaking on the occasion, ADC Sadashiv Prabhu said that the movies play its own role in social reform. It has contributed for social change in many countries. The movies of different taste in different languages will be screened during the film festival, said ADC Prabhu.
The children’s film festival is an excellent programme, wherein the children get an opportunity to view top children’s movies from worldwide countries. The children can grasp the values whilst viewing the movies and follow them to become responsible citizens when they grow up, said ADC Prabhu.
Of late, the children have hardly anytime for entertainment other than their studies. Meanwhile, the outdoor activities indeed essential for healthy growth, said ADC Prabhu.
Mangalore Talkies Owners Federation secretary Shankar Pai was present on the occasion.
The children’s film festival Committee secretary and information officer B A Khadersha welcomed the gathering. The information department staff Francis Lewis compered the programme.
The children’s film festival will be held at 2 theaters in DK district from November 14 to November 20. Four-hundred-fifty students viewed the movies at New Chitra theater here and five-hundred-students viewed the movies at Aruna theater, Puttur on Friday November 14.
Yalocolt, Mongolian movie about a destitute boy and Cinderella Moon, Chinese movie was screened on Friday.
