Mumbai: Maharashtra Konkan Association presents Youth Fiesta at Jerimeri, Andheri (E)

Mumbai, 14 Nov 2014: Maharashtra Konkan Association® organized Youth Fiesta at St Jude parish, Jerimeri, Andheri (E) here on Sunday November 9.
St Jude parish priest Fr Lancy Pinto offered motion for the Youth Fiesta after a brief prayers.
The veteran theater artiste and comedian Francis Fernandes Cascia was the chief guest of the occasion.
Maharashtra Konkan Association spiritual director Fr Nelson Saldanha, Divo – Konkani Illustrated Weekly editor Lawrence Coelho, Konkani singer Lawrence Saldanha, veteran theater artiste Harryboy, musicians Victor Concesso, Gerry Bondel, social activist Lawence D’Souza Kamani, James Elias and others were present.
Speaking on the occasion, Francis Fernandes said that by gauging from the audiences of staunch Konkani, it’s going to haunt all those who worry about Konkani going extinct. The new generation of Konkans displaying traditional dances, music and drama sends out message of posterity. The new generation has proved they want take Konkani to greater heights, said Francis.
The Association president Leo Fernandes, past presidents Benedicta B Rebello and Walter D’Souza, secretary Vincent Castelino, Lancy D’Souza, John Veigas, Elias Pinto, Leo D’Souza, Peter Rebello, Victor Pereira, David D’Souza, Joseph D’Souza, Cyril Castelino and others were present.
The teachers who trained the students to exhibit their talent – Roili Santumayor (Vasai), Flora D’Souza (Jerimeri), Janita D’Souza (Goregaon), Anis Mathias (Mahakali), Felita Veigas (Malvani), Melvyn D’Souza (Mira Road) were felicitated on the same occasion.
The prizes were distributed to the winners of different competitions on Konkani culture.
Victor Concesso, Felix Concesso, Felix Malvani, Richard Mira Road, Valerian Kandivali, Irene Mathias Mahakali, Clement D’Souza Vasai presented Konkani music, besides other folk-arts troupe presented Konkani dances and skit.
Fr Nelson Saldanha welcomed the gathering. Levin Fernandes, Jaclyn D’Souza, Laveena D’Souza, Glancita Fernandes, Joid Rodrigues presented welcome song. Goregaon parish students presented welcome dance. Leo Fernandes proposed vote of thanks.
