Beltangady: Minister Rai inaugurates water treatment plant installed @ Rs 8 crore in Dharmastala

Beltangady, 09 Nov 2014: Everyone has a role in environmental conservation. The environmental-friendly water treatment plant that has been installed to recycle waste water of guest houses at Sri Kshetra Dharmasthala is ideal for municipal bodies. The state government will experiment on Sri Kshetra Dharmasthala water treatment model, by providing necessary resources to one municipal body and a village council in Karnataka. If it’s successfully managed during the experiment period of 1 year, such municipal body and village council will be rewarded. Meanwhile, the project will be extended to other municipal bodies and village councils in Karnataka, said state forests and DK district-in-charge minister B Ramanat Rai.
The minister Rai was speaking after inaugurating water treatment plant that was installed at Sri Kshetra Dharmasthala @ Rs 8 crore, here on Sunday November 9.
Speaking on the occasion, Dakshina Kannada MP Nalin Kumar Kateel said the water treatment plant installed by Sri Kshetra Dharmasthala is a revolutionary measure. The global warming likely to create water scarcity, said MP Nalin. He also advised Mangalore municipal body to set up water treatment plant and release the recycled water to farmlands in nearby villages.
Beltangady MLA K Vasant Bangera advised to make Dakshina Kannada district model district in cleanliness and hygiene.
Dakshina Kannada ZP president Asha Timmappa advised the streams in the hillocks can be harnessed to supply drinking water to neighbouring villages.
Sri Kshetra Dharmasthala Dharmadikari D Veerendra Heggade in his presidential address said that the sanctity of Dharmasthala requires maintaining cleanliness and hygiene at all times. It’s been applied to Annapoorna dining facility and in the entire premises of Sri Kshetra Dharmasthala. BBC World News and Germany’s TV channel are arriving shortly to Sri Kshetra Dharmasthala to make a documentary on free dining facility for pilgrims, said Veerendra.
D Harshendra Kumar in his introductory address said that Sri Kshetra Dharmasthala has 1,790 toilets and 1,406 bathrooms that generate 25 lac liter of waste water which will be recycled at the water treatment plant and used for farming, said Harshendra.
Veerendra felicitated Pavan Kumar Jain, Shaila Iyer and Gopi who assisted in setting up water treatment plant on the same occasion.
Beltangady taluk panchayat president Jayanti Paledu, Dharmasthala gram panchayat president Geeta and zilla panchayat member Dhanalaxmi Janardhan were present.
