Bantwal: Untimely rains/lightning cause widespread destruction

Bantwal, Oct 20, 2014: The untimely rains and lightning on Saturday October 18 evening left a trail of destruction across the taluk.
A cow of Sridar Gowda, residing in Perne village, near here died of lightning. A tiled house of Parvati, residing in Kumbdelu that comes under the limits of Pudu village was completely damaged when a huge tree uprooted. A house of Parvati, living in Kujilabettu in Kasba village near here was partially damaged in the lightning. A house of Umavati Acharya, wife of the late Chandrashekar Acharya, living in Janata Colony, Palike near here was partially damaged. The masjid in Kantadka near Vittal here was damaged owing to lightning - wide cracks have developed on the walls and electrical fittings were gutted.
ZP member M S Mohammed, Tahsildar Malleswamy along with revenue officials have visited the locations affected by rains and lightning and drawn up the estimated loss.
