Mangalore, Oct 15, 2014: Karnataka Prantya Raita Sangha® and AIKS, affiliated to Communist Party of India (Marxist) held a protest rally on Tuesday October 14, in front of Deputy Commissioner’s office against the state government’s recent notification to evict forest dwellers who were living in forests and sustained by farming in patch of lands since centuries.

Addressing the protesters, CPI (M) district secretary Vasant Achari said, ‘If is the previous government or the current none of the government has given a permanent solution for the issues of the poor farmers in the rural areas. There is enough and plenty of land in the state which could be given to the poor farmers who earning their livelihood by encroaching the government land or acquiring forest land,’ said Vasant.

Vasant further said, the same government has the land to give to the capitalists. Just to give the red carpet welcome to the capitalists and multi national companies the state government has sent notices to every panchayat to evict the poor farmers from their acquired land. This land belongs to us. The red flag is ready to sacrifice blood for the land that belongs to us,’ added Vasant.

Speaking on PM Narendra Modi’s Swacch Bharat Campaign, Vasant said, ‘We have sent the leaders to plan schemes for the welfare of the people and not sweep the streets. By calling FDI as the First Develope India even though it’s Foriegn Direct Investment which is nothing but ruining the life of poor farmers the prime minister is trying to fool the nation, said Vasant.

Taking a dig at CM Siddhramaiah government, Vasant said that the same people who had given land rights to poor farmers in 1970’s and 80’s are ruining life of poor farmers. If the present government continues the same policies like the previous government when it comes to the land policies it too will be thrown away from the power similar to B S Yediyurappa government.

‘I want to convey a message to the Cheif minister Siddharamiah is that the farmers are the decision makers. If they can give you the power they can also take away the same. If the families of the poor famers come down to streets then the chief minister is solely responsible,’ stressed Vasant.

The district Raitha Sangha president K R Shreeyan also spoke on the occasion.

CITU leaders Balakrishna, B M Bhat, U P Lokayya and others were present on the occasion.

Earlier to sit-in in front of Deputy Commissioner’s office, a protest rally was held from Dr B R Ambedkar roundabout, Balmatta to Deputy Commissioner’s office. The people of oppressed class in the society participated in the rally in large numbers.
