Mangalore: Mahatma Gandhi set an example to mankind; ADC Prabhu

Mangalore, 02 Oct, 2014: Mahatma Gandhi, the father of nation has set an example for the entire world by his freedom struggle based on simple living, non-violence, honesty and truth, said ADC Sadashiv Prabhu.
 
Prabhu was speaking after inaugurating seminar that was organized as part of Gandhi Jayanti at Ravindra Kala Bhavan, at University College, here on Thursday October 2. It was jointly organized by information and public relations department, Mangalore University NSS unit and University College NSS unit.
 
Gandhi’s non-violence freedom struggle was rare in the world, because he was steadfast to the core of his philosophy, said Prabhu.

 

 

Prabhu urged the students to emulate the ideals of Mahatma Gandhi to live meaningful lives.

 

Speaking on the occasion, Badriya College principal Dr Ismal said that Gandhi laid emphasis on cleansing the soul more than body because it would lead to healthy society. 

 

Dr Ismail urged the youth to develop purity of heart and take interest in social service.  The egoist nature is dangerous.  Everyone should join in nation building, urged Dr Ismail.  

 

University College principal Dr Satyanarayan Mallipatna presided the programme.
 
Mangalore University NSS officer Vineeta Rai administered cleanliness oath to the gathering.
 
Bhagini Samaj president Vajra Rao, University College NSS officer Dr Dayanand Naik was present.
 
The information officer B A Khadersha welcomed the gathering.  NSS officer Dr Nagaratna K A proposed vote of thanks.
 
The prizes were distributed to the winners of competitions that were held on the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti.  
 
University College NSS unit gathered the garbage around district Wenlock Hospital and a water purifier was donated to the hospital.
