Cattle transporters assaulted in Mangalore

Mangalore, 02 Oct, 2014: Two youths, transporting cattle, were seriously injured after being assaulted by a group of miscreants said to be from right wing organisations at Porlipady, Kalladka on Thursday.
The injured have been identified as Aboobakker Siddiq and Basheer, residents of Salethur. Police have booked cases against Mithun, Naveen, Dheeraj, Ganesh and Charan. Bantwal police said one of the accused Ganesh has been taken into custody for questioning.
Police said the two cattle heads were being transported illegally from Kukkaje and the miscreants had followed them from some distance. At one point, the driver of the over speeding pick up van in which cattle were being transported lost control and rolled into a ditch. The miscreants had dragged them outside and allegedly assaulted them with lethal weapons.
Both victims have sustained grievous injuries on their neck, hands and legs. They have been hospitalised in Mangalore.
