Rendition 14-National Paper Presentation Contest at SJEC

Mangalore, 2 October 2014: Rendition 14, a national-level paper presentation contest and productive dialogue was organized by the department of business administration at St Joseph Engineering College - Vamanjoor, here on Wednesday October 1 on the theme Competitive strategies in management for a sustainable world.

 

The inaugural function was held at 9:30 am in the Seminar Hall, 7th Floor - Academic Block III.

 

SJEC MBA student choir invoked God’s blessings and graces.

 

Sohan Castelino and Cleren Bangera, students of III Semester MBA, presented a video highlighting the various activities undertaken by the department of business administration, SJEC.

 

The programme was inaugurated by the chief guest Captain. John Prasad Menezes, former president of Kanara Chamber of Commerce and Industry, here.

 

Captain Menezes is the CEO of Menezes & Associates, here. He is the Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Ship Brokers, London and Member of Society of Consulting Marine Engineers and Ship Surveyors, London.

 

Fr Ajith Menezes, designated-director of SJEC presided the programme.

 

Dr Joseph Gonsalvis, principal-SJEC, Fr Rohith D’Costa, assistant director-SJEC and Dr Rio D’Souza, vice principal-SJEC were the guests of honour.

 

Dr Prakash Pinto, Dean-MBA, M Babitha Rohit, faculty c-oordinator, Rendition 14, and Sonia Pinto, the student co-ordinator were present on the dais.

 

Fr Alphonso Cardoza, campus counselor and Allen C A Pereira, member of the governing council were also present for the inaugural function.

 

Addressing the gathering, Captain Menezes said that if there was no shipping in the world, half would starve and the other half would freeze to death. He also emphasized on climatic change as an important aspect of a sustainable world. He considered 3 important factors for the happiness index - world peace, healthy economy and energy levels. He encouraged the participants to become good leaders and serve the society as one belong to nature and nature does not belong to man.

 

Speaking on the occasion, Dr Joseph Gonsalvis persuaded the students to grow up and be a resource to this country. He influenced them to prepare themselves to handle situations like shortage in the energy sector, nutrition loss and food scarcity.

 

Fr Ajith Menezes, in his presidential address, motivated the participants to look for innovative insights and ideas. He considered Rendition 14 as a forum where minds meet and successful leaders are evolved.

 

Babitha Rohit welcomed the gathering.  Sonia Pinto, student co-ordinator, Rendition 14 proposed the vote of thanks.  Giselle D’Almeida, student III Semester MBA compered the programme.

 

There were 40 paper presentations from the M Com and MBA students of colleges from Bangalore, Kodagu, Udupi and Dakshina Kannada districts in the specialization areas of finance, marketing and human resource.

 

 


Around 25 students participated in the productive dialogue and deliberated on the theme, Competitive Strategies in Management for a Sustainable World.

 

The certificates of excellence for the paper presentation at Rendition 14 were awarded to – Finance Specialization: I place: Clara Rodrigues, St Agnes PG and Research Centre, Mangalore.  II place: Namitha Bhat, Poornaprajna Institute of Management, Udupi. Human Resource Specialization: I place: Jinesh N S, St Aloysius College, Mangalore.  II place: Deepika Bolar, University College, Mangalore.  Marketing Specialization: I place: Amol H Nanawaty, Christ University, Bangalore.  II place: Roshna S, Christ University, Bangalore.

 

The certificates of excellence for the productive dialogue at Rendition 14 were awarded to – Winner: University College, Mangalore. Runners up: Alva’s Institute of Engineering and Technology, Moodbidri.

 

Renita Huns, student of III Semester MBA, Rendition 14 proposed the vote of thanks and Audrey Lobo, student of I Semester MBA compered the valedictory programme.
