Bantwal: Menacing leopard trapped by foresters at Chennaittody village

Bantwal, Sep 29, 2014: A menacing leopard strayed into inhabited lands in search of domestic dogs was found itself trapped in the cage laid by the forest department at Amyalagudde that comes at the limits of Chennaittody gram panchayat, near here on Sunday September 28 night.
The people surrounding villages of Chennaittody – Vamadapadavu were worried about disappearing of livestock and pet dogs and suspected a leopard on the fowl since over a month. The villagers collectively complained to Venoor range forest department.
The forest guards on night patrol spotted the leopard in the neighbourhood 2 to 3 days ago and laid the cage with a pet dog in it in order to trap the menacing leopard. The plan worked and the leopard found itself trapped inside the cage.
The forest department officials have taken the leopard to released it at Kundremukh Reserve Forest.
The range forest officer Subramanya Achar, Venoor forest officer Yashodar and foresters, veterinary Dr Ashok, Venoor ranger foresters were present on the occasion.
The entire village descended at the location to view the trapped leopard.
