United Mangaloreans Kuwait (UMK) celebrates Monti Fest

Kuwait, 25 Sep 2014: United Mangaloreans Kuwait (UMK) celebrated Monti Fest in a traditional way with the family members on Friday 12th September 2014 at Friends Auditorium, Salmiya with great devotion.
 
Kevin D’Souza, host of the event gave a brief introduction of UMK.
 
The feast started with Gurkar Agnel Saldanha’s welcome note to the gathering.
 
Statue of Mother Mary honored by singing beautiful hymn ‘sokkod sangatha mellyan’ followed by floral offering by the small children.  Kevin D’Souza recited the Rosary.  Doris Lobo read the word of God from the Bible.
 
The blessed paddy corn (Novem) was then served to all.
 
Speaking on the occasion, Agnel thanked Mother Mary for the blessings on UMK and its members.  Also he thanked and prayed for the Sponsors and well-wishers of UMK for their love and continued support, and for the UMK members for their selfless hard work.
 
Further, he invoked the blessings for the success of forthcoming Fun Filled Evening 2014 which is scheduled on 03rd October 2014, in aid of Manasa Rehabilitation & Training Center, Pamboor and De Mercede Orphanage, a home for destitute children, Derala Katte, Mangalore.
 
On this auspicious day, Agnel’s parents Albert & Philomena Saldanha and wife Pramila Saldanha, who have just come to Kuwait, were felicitated with bouquet and cake cutting.
 
Baby Aaral Noronha’s birthday also celebrated.

During the entertainment session a dance was performed by Andrea Pinto, Shannu D’souza, Shawn Pereira, Sunil Mendonca, Joel Pinto and Avil Fernandes took all back to the memories of school days.  Rib tickling comedy skit presented by Joseph D’souza Kevin D’Souza, Satish Saldanha and Prashant Ferrao.
 
Delma Lobo raised the grace before meal.
 
Ronald D’souza made the event lively by playing devotional hymns and melodious songs.
 
Sumptuous vegetarian meal was served on banana leaves, along with delicacies like ganvchen toranche lonchen (Pickle) ’Patrode’ and ’Vorn’.
 
The event concluded with the singing of ’Laudate’.
