Mangalore: Civic Authorities clear unauthorized petty shops along Bibi Alabi Road, Bunder

Mangalore, 13 Sep, 2014: The municipal authorities began eviction of unauthorized petty shops that are located along the narrow Bibi Alabi Road, Bunder, here on Friday September 12. These shops were operating without trade licenses issued by municipal body.
Speaking to media persons, municipal health officer Dr Manjayya Shetty said, ‘The municipal body aims to curb the illegal businesses and to make Mangalore - a clean and healthy city,’ said Dr Shetty.
‘No shops will be allowed inn the public places as civic body will take a stern action against the illegal shops and we will not hesitate to carry out similar drives in the future as well. The shopkeepers dump the garbage besides their shops, posing health hazard to general public and people living nearby. We will build public toilets on the same spots to discourage shopkeepers from beginning all over,’ said Dr Shetty.
Some of the shopkeepers loaded the stuff in their own vehicles as the civic authority began the drive to clear the roadside vendors / petty shops. There were few body parts of the cars, which the municipal trucks carried away from the location.
The municipal senior health inspector Bharat Kumar, health officer Yashwanth and others were also present on the spot.
