Mumbai: Ryan Group celebrates Teachers’ Day by sharing food with street kids

Mumbai,5 Sep 2014: Ryan International Group of education institutions celebrated Teachers’ Day in a unique manner at Ryan School, Kandivali (East) here on Friday September 5.

 
Ryan International Group of education institutions managing director Grace Pinto offered motion for Ryan Food Bucket Campaign, by feeding over 500 street kids at St Lawrence High School hall, Kandivali (East) here on Friday.

 
Speaking on the occasion, Grace Pinto said, ‘Every Indian child is our guest.  We ought to teach them what real life is.  If the teachers accept serving others is serving God; it’s easier for them to serve the humanity.  The donating food is also a noble deed like teaching. Ryan Food Bucket Campaign is helpful for well off students to foster brotherhood with street kids in promoting communal harmony.  The teachers bring light by shunning darkness by sharing knowledge.  If the teachers are careful in not creating bias among the students, it would lead to better future for the nation and students alike.  If the street kids are empowered it would lead to stronger nation.  Ryan Food Bucket Campaign aims at pooling food and packaged drinking water that would be a waste but fit for consumption that would be distributed to 30 orphanages and inmates of special school.  As per gospel message, it would feed nearly 5,000 children,’ said Grace.

 

 
Ryan international Group of education institutions CEO Ryan A Pinto in his introductory address explained the Campaign that was launched owing to the farsightedness of Ryan Group founder Dr Augustine F Pinto, to feed the street kids for sustenance when the world around is insensitive to their hunger.  Meanwhile, the students of Ryans Group will go round houses in their neighbourhood, malls to gather discarded food that will be minutely tested for quality and will be distributed by the students themselves to street kids, orphanages.  Through this campaign, the students will learn the pangs of hunger, poverty among the less fortunate kids in the society.  The students will sit with street kids and share the same food.  Ryan Group already signed agreement with several NGOs to collect 1 million kilograms of food in this ambitious project, said Ryan.

 
The social activist Liza Samuel, Ryan Group director Snehal Pinto, Rocky D”Souza, Prem Shetty, Juliana D’Souza, Avita D’Souza and others were present on the occasion.

 
Dories Rawal welcomed the gathering.  Neti Srinivasan proposed vote of thanks.  Shibani Sharma compered the programme.

 
The street kids indeed surprised the students of Ryan School, when the street kids displayed the knowledge of cine actors of bollywood, TV serials and Doordarshan.  The street kids were served with veg biriyani on the tables, while the dignitaries, teachers and students shared the same food in their midst.
