Uppala: Dead python lands trio behind bars
Uppala, 05 Sep 2014: Forest officials arrested three people including an auto rickshaw driver after they were caught eating python curry.
Python weighing 1.50 kg, 1 kg butter, car used to transport the meat belonging to a person named Babu was seized by the officials.
The forest officials said, python weighing 6.5 kgs and 1.5 kgs were brought by them from the forest. After cooking the python in the house belonging to Babu located near Kathimanalu Chamundi Temple, the curry was brought by them to a garden for consumption.
Based on a tip-off the officials raided the garden and arrested three people. Of the total of six persons, the officials arrested three, while the other three managed to flee.
A case has been registered under Protection of Wildlife Act.
A python, is listed under Part II of the Schedule I (most endangered animals in the country) under the Protection of Wildlife Act, 1972.
