Mumbai: Mahaveer College - Moodbidri Alma Mater General Body Meet held in Metro

Mumbai, Sep 1, 2014: The general body meeting of Moodbidri - Mahaveer College alma mater was held at the chairmanship of Alvas Education Foundation® chairman Dr Mohan M Alva at Hotel Peninsula Grand banquet hall, Sakinaka roundabout, Andheri (East) here on Sunday August 31.
Karnataka minister for youth and fisheries and Mahaveer College governing council president K Abayachandra Jain, Organic Industries Limited chairman Anand Shetty and Sukumar Rao were the specially invited guest present on the occasion.
Addressing the gathering, Dr Alva offered information on organizing golden jubilee celebrations of Mahaveer College by end of January 2015. He further said that Mahaveer College expanded its infrastructure facilities by the generous contributions of the late Dr T M A Pai of Academy of General Education – Manipal, the late S N Moodbidri, the late G V Pai, the late M K Anantaraj, the late S D Samrajya and other philanthropists. The resources are essential for an education institution to develop infrastructural facilities. The pooling of resources of local philanthropists, alumni associations are indeed necessary in this regard. Accordingly, it was decided to organize the golden jubilee celebrations of Mahaveer College in a grand manner. The Committees of alma mater in Mumbai, Bangalore, Gulf countries, Chikmagalur – Shimoga will have to be formed to pool resources, said Dr Alva.
The minister Abayachandra Jain said that its due to the generous contributions of philanthropists Mahaveer College has separate boys and girls hostel, sports track, playground, S N Moodbidri Polytechnic, A G Soans ITI, M K Anantaraj College of Physical Education. NAAC has awarded ‘A’ grade to Maharaveer College. The governing council including teaching staff, alma mater, students and their parents are busy in preparing for mega event. A blue print to build a new building block @ Rs 4.5 crore is already ready, said minister Jain. He also urged for pooling resources in this endeavor.
Both minister Jain and Dr Alva consented to pool the resources towards the cost of mega project.
Alma mater Mumbai secretary Professor Ramesh Bhat, Mohan Shetty, Mohan Suvarna and Satish N Bangera compered the programme.
