ICYM Mangalore diocese organizes Self employment training programme

Mangalore, 31 Aug 2014: The ICYM central council of Mangalore diocese organized self employment training programme ‘Swavalamban’ for the Catholic youth of the diocese at ICYM youth training Center, Olivet, Jeppu, here on Sunday August 31.
 
 
Catholic Communication Center director Fr Richard D’Souza inaugurated the programme here on Sunday morning.
 
 
Speaking on the occasion, Fr Richard emphasized on the need to be self dependent.  He said, ‘We feel that self employment reduces our dignity. Today’s youth feel that toiling hard in the hot sun is not the cup of their tea. Everyone wants to get the success in the easiest way possible. ICYM should motivate the youth to stand on own feet in life,’ said Fr Richard. ‘We should have a vision in our life. Efforts channelized over a goal will definitely bear the fruit,’ added Fr Richard.
 
 
Christian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Rachana) president John Monteiro in his keynote address said, ‘We have the choice of our future. Now it is the right time to make a choice. Once you make the choice and set your goal you should work tirelessly to achieve that goal,’ said Monteiro.  ‘There are many opportunities to be grabbed. Youth must make use of the opportunities and build their future. Smart people do right things at the right time,’ added Monteiro.

 

 
 
 
Mangalore diocesan ICYM vice president Darrel D’Souza and diocesan youth director Fr Ronald D’Souza were also present.
 
 
Mangalore diocesan ICYM president Melrida Rodrigues welcomed the gathering, while secretary Venetia Rodrigues proposed the vote of thanks. Vivian Veigas compered the programme.
 
 
About 60 youth across the diocese participated in the training programme.
