Puttur: St Philomena College Science Forum inaugurated

Puttur, Aug 27, 2014: The Science Forum of St Philomena College which is a platform for the science students to uncover and exhibit their talent was inaugurated at silver jubilee memorial hall here on Monday August 25.
Bantwal – SVS College retired head of department of physics Professor Vishabharaj, while addressing the students said, ‘The overall development of the students take place when they actively participate beyond the curriculum and think out of the box. A Forum like this will provide lot of opportunities for the students; it will test their capabilities, leadership qualities and innovative ideas,’ said Professor Vishabharaj.
Professor Vishabharaj further said, ‘Formal education will only help to earn your living but experience which is gained in the student life by participating will teach you the way of life. Education should contribute in the development of the body, mind and soul of the individual,’ said Professor Vishabharaj.
Speaking on the occasion Fr Antony Prakash Monteiro said, ‘Science begins with wonder. All the innovations come from absurd questions,’ said Fr Monteiro.
The College principal Professor Leo Norohna in his presidential address quoting the great scientist Albert Einstein said, ‘Curiosity leads to knowledge and knowledge leads to wisdom’. Therefore he advised the students to keep themselves involved in knowledge hunting,’ said Professor Noronha.
The programme was followed by a workshop on Nano Technology. Prof. Vrishabharaj gave an insight to students about the various Nano technologies, its importance and its relevance.
Science Forum director Professor Chandrashekar K welcomed the gathering. Science Forum president Preetam Castelino proposed vote of thanks. Fayal D’Souza compered the programme.
