Muscat: Jezu Maka Appoita - Konkani Prayer Group celebrates 12th Anniversary

Muscat , 18 Aug 2014: Jezu Maka Appoita – Konkani prayer group of Holy Spirit Church, Ghala, here celebrated their twelfth anniversary at church auditorium, here on Saturday August 16 evening.

 

The programme began with a prayer dance by Lizzy  Barboza.

 

 

Praveen Niddodi, the compere of the event and an active member of the prayer group conducted the whole event very meticulously and kept the audience glued to their seats with his various quizzes and spot prizes.

 

Allen D’Souza, president of the prayer group along with Lancy Barboza, vice president welcomed the spiritual director Fr Albert D’Silva with a floral bouquet on the stage.

 

Allen D’Souza welcomed the gathering and expressed his gratitude to all the members and supporters of prayer group.

 

The Committee members comprising Peter Fernandes, Raphael Pernal, Lawrence D’Souza, Joseph D’Souza, Leo Saldanha, Helen Sequiera, Jenny Joseph, Cynthia Saldanha, Ashleta D’Souza and Meera Saldanha presented floral bouquet to spiritual director.

 

The gathering then celebrated the birthday of Fr Albert D’Silva who is also the parish priest of Holy Spirit Church, Ghala and a cake cutting ceremony was held.

 

Fr Albert D’Silva then addressed the gathering.

 

 

The tiny tots comprising Riya Lobo, Larissa Saldanha, Ashvitha Coutinho, Lizy Barboza, Muriel D’Souza, Gloria Barboza, Clarita Saldanha and Rebecca D’Souza presented a dance, Bodvya Sanghi Korya Naman’on the occasion of the feast of Assumption of Blessed Virgin Mary. It was choreographed by Priyanka Mendonca who was honored with a floral bouquet for being the youngest choreographer.

 

An enactment from the Bible passage was followed by an action song, ‘Lana Burgyank Mhoje Lagi  Yevnk Soda,’ the participants in the act were Lizy Barboza, Muriel D’Souza,

 

Gloria Barboza, Melina Goveas, Clarita Saldanh, Laura D’Sa, Larissa Saldanha, Ashvitha Cutinha, Nethan D’Souza, Rion Lobo, McNeill D’Souza, Riya Lobo, Salvadore D’Souza. It was choreographed by Gracy Barboza and Meera Saldanha.

 

Hubert Lobo, a well known singer then enthralled the audience with his melodious voice through his song. 

 

The main highlight of the day was an act ‘Yemkodanthle Razar and Gozal’ presented by Neshvil Pinto, Edward Mendonsa, Raphael Pernal, Peter Prakash Fernandes and Ashok Tellis which through its humorous mood gave a religious message to the audience .It was written and directed by Peter Prakash Fernandes.

 

Meera Saldhana, secretary of the prayer group then presented the report of the whole year’s events.  Peter Prakash Fernandes proposed the vote of thanks.

 

The event ended with a sumptuous traditional Mangalorean style dinner.
